Tortola,
British Virgin Islands
Tortola, "land of turtle doves' or Chocolate City is the largest
British Virgin Island overlooking Sir Francis Drake Channel and situated
about 60 miles east of Puerto Rico. The most popular point of entry
for charters is the East End Beef Island Airport linked to the capital
city of Road Town by the one-lane Queen Elizabeth Bridge.
Road Town's scenic setting and sheltered yacht-filled harbour provide
a helpful orientation to the laid-back Brith Virgin island lifestyle.
This friendly and diversified community tempts travellers with
every sort of regional and international cuisine found in a choice
of cheerful pastel painted restaurants, former forts, and sugar
mills. Palate-pleasing menus feature
West Indian specialties of fresh lobster, conch, turtle, spicy goat,
and curries of every description. An authentic English pub serves
Pusser's Rum, traditional drink of the British Navy for 300 years,
as well as a popular fruit flavoured local concoction known as the
"Painkiller."
Tortola also offers and ideal jumping off point to the other main
island of Virgin Gorda with its
famous Baths, magical Anegada, and
rustic Jost Van Dyke.

US Virgin Islands |
The
U.S. purchased the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917, and the architecture
and Danish flavor still fills the town of Charlotte Amalie. Named
for a Danish queen, Charlotte Amalie is the main city on the island
of St. Thomas, and is also the capital of the United States Virgin
Islands. One of St. Thomas claims to fame is the Caribbeans
pre-eminent cruise ship destination, so duty free shopping and exciting
excursions abound. |
Red Hook & the East End
On the east end of St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands there are many
large resorts with beaches, some with marinas as well. This is a
wonderful area to begin or end your Virgin Island vacations - with
a hotel stay before or after your cruise aboard your own luxury
sailing yacht charters. Red Hook
is the principal town on the east side of the island, and has large
dock facilities. It is host to the Virgin Islands sportfishing fleet
during the summer, when tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo and the blue marlin
are in our waters.

Your Virgin island sailing charter awaits you
|
| St. John is located about 1 mile due east from St. Thomas,
and is the U.S. Virgin Island closest to the British Virgin Islands.
About 70% of National Park, the donation of this land by the Rockefeller
family guaranteed that the beautiful hillsides will stay green instead
of being developed, and the coral reefs will be protected from damage
not only now, but for generations to come. In the park, Trunk Bay
has an underwater snorkeling trail with signs indicating fish, corals
and other critters that you might see as you go along both there,
and in your other snorkeling adventures on St. John. There are also
several other hiking trails ranging from novice to challenging, especially
when you factor in the bright Caribbean sun! There are often park
activities going on, such as guided hikes, lectures and tours of the
archeological sites, or beach nature walks. A schedule is available
at the activities center in Cruz Bay. Your virgin island sailing charter
yacht will likely stay one night just off one of the beaches in the
park, so you can enjoy the variety of activities available in the
park. |

Cruz Bay Virgin Islands is on the west side of St. John, facing St.
Thomas, and is the main city of St. John. St. John boasts a total
population of about 5,000, so this means everyone knows everyone else,
and friendships are close and lasting there. In fact, the nickname
of Cruz Bay is 'Love City' by its friendly residents. Cruz Bay is
the point of entry for yachts returning from the British Virgin Islands.

| Virgin Island sailing charters are the best way to enjoy
